History

The West Central Community Development Association was incorporated in 1980 for the purpose of managing WCCC. Construction of WCCC was funded through federal Community Development Block Grant awards and the City of Spokane maintains ownership, leasing the facility back to the Association.

Our founding mission was to serve as a foundation for addressing the social and economic issues afflicting the neighborhoods surrounding WCCC—West Central, Emerson-Garfield, Riverside and Northwest—focusing primarily on the emerging family and breaking the cycle of poverty. To do this, four strategic service areas were identified:

  • Health Services
  • Child Development
  • Youth Recreation
  • Family Development Services

In the more than three decades since its inception, WCCC has served thousands of families in our community, and our mission continues to align with our founding principles.
